The Harris County Criminal Courts consist of 24 felony courts and 16 misdemeanor courts. The Harris County District Courts are felony courts and the Harris County Criminal Courts at Law are misdemeanor courts.
The Harris County District Courts and County Criminal Courts at Law are located in the Harris County Criminal Justice Center Courthouse in Downtown Houston at 1201 Franklin St, Houston, TX 77002.
What time should I arrive for my court date?
You should arrive at least one (1) hour before docket starts. Generally, between the hours of 8:45 a.m and 10:30 a.m. on M-F there is a 30 to 45 minute waiting line when entering the Harris County Criminal Justice Center.

If you are facing a felony charge, your case will be assigned to the Harris County District Court. In Harris County, the criminal district courts have exclusive original jurisdiction for cases with a prison sentence over one (1) year.
If you are facing a misdemeanor charge, your case will be assigned to the Harris County Criminal Court at Law. In Harris County, the Criminal Courts at Law have exclusive original jurisdiction over Class B misdemeanors and Class A misdemeanors where the fine does not exceed $500 or confinement in the county jail does not exceed one year.
